Nursery Language Activities and After-School Activities

You often hear that “children are sponges” and they are! They listen, repeat and store sounds then use them to express feelings and needs in very much the same way as they would use building blocks.

Associating sounds with people and objects familiar to them builds children’s vocabulary; the next step is to start combining sounds (words) to express feelings and needs: this is the beginning of sentences, though they may only be two words long.

As adults we lose this ability to learn at such a fast pace, simply because we no longer need these incredible skills once we can express ourselves. Therefore, you will understand the importance of giving your child the opportunity to apply these natural learning skills to another language, be it French, Spanish or even Mandarin.
